Acupuncture

Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM) has been around for thousands of years. It is a whole and complete medicine with multiple modalities underneath its umbrella that treats holistically while taking into account factors of lifestyle such as work, diet, climate and time of year. A TCM approach to health can involve acupuncture, cupping, gua sha, tuina massage, ear seeds, acupressure, moxibustion, heat therapy and shi liao (Chinese diet therapy). Given this varied and individualized approach anyone can benefit from incorporating TCM into their healthcare routine. Some examples of what an acupuncture treatment can help with are:

  • Gastrointestinal Health
    – nausea, constipation, diarrhea, ulcerative colitis, Crohn’s, ulcers, indigestion, IBS and hemorrhoids
  • Reproductive and Sexual Health
    – menopause, painful or irregular periods, PMS, pregnancy concerns (morning sickness, back pain, headaches), postpartum support,  infertility and PCOS
  • Immune Health
    – allergies, autoimmune diseases, asthma, long covid, lingering cough or recurring sinus/ear infections, pre and post-surgical recovery and chemotherapy side effects
  • Pain and/or Injuries
    – back pain, neck pain, shoulder pain, rotator cuff injuries, knee pain, carpal tunnel, tennis/golfers elbow, plantar fasciitis, arthritis or joint pain, migraines, headaches and fibromyalgia
  • Endocrine
    – hypothyroidism, hyperthyroidism, Hashimoto’s, diabetes (diabetic neuropathy)
  • Neurological
    – bell’s palsy, trigeminal neuralgia, stroke recovery, Parkinson’s and Multiple Sclerosis
  • Mental Health
    – anxiety, depression, stress, insomnia and PTSD

Cupping

Cupping is done with glass, silicone or plastic cups to provide space for improved circulation, relaxation of muscles and connective tissues. It is soothing to the nervous system and can provide pain relief. Cupping sessions can be done on their own or added into any acupuncture treatment.

Gua Sha

Gua Sha is a healing modality done on the body with a ceramic tool to provide unilateral pressure to release tight connective tissue. It creates marks (sha) similar to cupping marks and can provide pain relief and provide anti-inflammatory effects which last over time. Gua sha if indicated is added to your acupuncture treatments.
